The author and readers of this year's National Radio Dictation have been announced. The text will be written by Artur Dron, a writer and military veteran, Suspilne Culture reported on 12 October.

The dictation will be read live on air by two people: singer and volunteer Dasha Astafieva and Artur Proydakov, a teacher of Ukrainian language and literature. The announcement was made during a live broadcast on Ukrainian Radio, according to the Suspilne Culture Telegram channel.

When it takes place

The Radio Dictation will be held on 27 October at 11:00. According to the organisers' announcement, it takes place, as is traditional, on Ukrainian Written Language and Language Day, a national observance dedicated to the Ukrainian language.

What the Radio Dictation is

The Radio Dictation is an annual nationwide Ukrainian-language literacy event. A text is read aloud on the radio, and listeners write it down at the same time, testing their spelling and punctuation. The text is written by a different author each year, and the readers are announced in advance.

This year's pairing reflects the wartime experience of Ukrainian society. Dron is both a writer and a veteran, and Astafieva is described by Suspilne as a singer and volunteer. Proydakov brings the perspective of a classroom teacher of the language. The source posts do not say what the text will be about or give further details of the participants' backgrounds.

Suspilne Culture's announcement of the author and readers drew more than 125,000 views on Telegram.
