Ukraine says Russia loses about 200 killed daily near Dobropillia
A statement on the Ukrainian General Staff channel says Russian losses have grown in recent months, with about 200 killed a day near Dobropillia. The claim is unverified.
A statement published on the Ukrainian General Staff's Telegram channel on 12 October says Russian forces are losing about 200 killed every day in the Dobropillia area of the Donetsk region. The figure could not be independently verified.
The post, written in the first person, says its author chaired a Stavka meeting, the Ukrainian high command's meeting on the war, earlier that day. It does not name the author. RealUA has therefore attributed the statements to the General Staff channel.
Claims about Russian losses
According to the statement, the meeting heard "an important report" on the front-line situation. The author says Ukraine continues an active defence and is "gradually pushing the occupier back".
"Russian losses have grown in these months," the post says. It adds that in the Dobropillia area alone Russian forces lose about two hundred people killed each day, and that "many" more are seriously wounded. Dobropillia is a city in the Donetsk region of eastern Ukraine, and the area is one of the sectors where fighting continues.
The author says all attempts by Russian troops to advance or to infiltrate Ukrainian positions are being stopped. The post gives no breakdown of how the figure was calculated, and no data on Ukrainian losses.
"Strongest in a long time"
The statement says Ukraine's positions on the front remain strong and are "the strongest in a long time" this year. It acknowledges that in some places Russian forces outnumber Ukrainian troops six to eight times. The author says Ukraine still achieves "the results it needs" despite this.
Neither the claim of strong positions nor the claimed enemy losses were accompanied by evidence in the post. Russia has not commented on the claims in the material reviewed. Casualty figures from either side in this war are rarely confirmed independently.
Units singled out
The author thanked all units and brigades for carrying out their combat tasks and using weapons "as effectively as possible". Six formations were singled out for praise:
- the 12th Azov Special Forces Brigade of the National Guard;
- the 1st Presidential Brigade "Buriviy";
- the 95th Air Assault Brigade;
- the 413th "Reid" Regiment of the Unmanned Systems Forces;
- the 104th Separate Territorial Defence Brigade;
- the "Phoenix" detachment of the State Border Guard Service.
The post closes by thanking "everyone who fights for Ukraine as if for themselves". It did not specify where each unit is operating or what tasks they carried out.
The post was accompanied by a video, which RealUA has not used. The General Staff channel is an official Ukrainian military source, and its statements on enemy losses reflect the Ukrainian side's own assessment.
