Ukraine's General Staff said on 17 October that Ukrainian forces hit a railway bridge in Russia's Bryansk region, logistics depots in the occupied part of the Donetsk region and a production and storage building of a Russian drone maker in the Rostov region. The claims come only from the General Staff and have not been independently verified. No damage assessments were published.

Bridge and depots

In its first statement, the General Staff said Defence Forces units struck a series of Russian military logistics targets on 16 October and overnight into 17 October.

It said a strike was recorded on a railway bridge over the Unecha river near Sloboda-Selecka in the Bryansk region of Russia. According to the General Staff, the aim was to complicate rail logistics for Russian forces, including deliveries of ammunition, fuel and military equipment.

In the temporarily occupied part of the Donetsk region, the General Staff reported hits on depots of material and technical supplies near Novoandriivka, Mykilske and Mariupol. It also said a Russian drone control point was hit near Malynivka in the Donetsk region. The statement did not say which Malynivka it meant, and it did not describe the weapons used.

"Work on key targets in Russia will continue until the full cessation of Russia's armed aggression against Ukraine," the General Staff said.

Roboavia and a missile brigade depot

A second statement, published about 90 minutes later, said the General Staff had confirmed a strike on 16 October on a production and storage building of the company Roboavia near Lenina in the Rostov region. It described Roboavia as an enterprise that develops and makes unmanned aerial vehicles for the Russian army. It said the strike was meant to complicate drone production and supply to Russian troops.

The General Staff also confirmed a strike on 12 October on a logistics storage building used by a Russian missile brigade, near Latyshi in the Bryansk region. It did not name the brigade or say what was stored there.

The General Staff framed the strikes as an exercise of Ukraine's right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter. It said they aim to reduce Russia's military-economic and technological potential.

Context

The Bryansk region borders Ukraine and has been a frequent target of Ukrainian strikes. RealUA has reported other recent General Staff claims there, including strikes on two radar stations and an electronic warfare station on 15–16 October and a radar near Shkriabyne, also in the Bryansk region. The General Staff also said earlier that a Nebo-U radar in Russia's Krasnodar region was hit on 16 October. All of those claims are likewise unverified.

Russian authorities had not commented on these specific claims in the source material reviewed. Neither statement included the number of targets destroyed, casualties or independent imagery.

What is not known

The General Staff did not say how much damage was done to the bridge, whether rail traffic was disrupted, or what the Roboavia building produced or held. The published images could not be tied to specific locations from the information provided.
